This line has:

2. Abrasive blasting machine, hodge clemco Ltd, model 2462, year 2011, serial no. 7758

3. The main machine a Rotoblast 3H-120, year 2011, serial no. 11002

4. The second machine is a RotoCoat 2H, year 2011




The Rotoblast 3H consists of a carousel conveyor with 3 stations where the cylinders rotate during grit-blasting and air blowing operations.

The equipment features 3 separate lances with specific blasting nozzles for blasting the cylinder top, body and bottom.

The operating cycle consists of 4 phases (3 grit-blasting phases + 1 air blowing phase), followed by an additional dust and grit extraction phase off-line.

Estimated productivity: about 40 to 50 pcs/hour, depending on the cylinder length and steel condition.

Recommended abrasive grade: Steel Grit (G40 mesh size) for M30 cylinders.

The whole working cycle is controlled by a programmable PLC allowing the operator to program and set the following values:

Lance speed up and down, individually adjustable for each single lance, thus ensuring maximum blasting flexibility (i.e. each lance can have a different up movement speed, down movement speed a n d  i n t e r m e d i a t e  p a u s e s  c a n  b e programmed)

Cycle time

A virtually unlimited number of programmable programs for different cylinder types (cylinder length, number of welds, type of ring-nuts etc…)

Operations to be carried out by the operator:

Positioning the cylinders inside the cabinet

Starting the automatic grit-blasting cycle

Unloading the inner-blasted cylinders

 Pause time for additional blasting at the ring-nut position (particularly useful for example for M74 ring-nuts) and at the welds

RotoCoat 2H 

Automatic Inner Rotational Lining Equipment for Fire Extinguisher Cylinders for lining cylinders with EN3 approved Corrosion Resistant Thermoplastic Coating powders.

RotoCoat 2H has been designed to apply a thermoplastic protective lining, to carbon steel fire extinguisher cylinders. The equipment is supplied ready for use and only requires connection to the mains services on site.

General Description

The machine consists of a sturdy fabricated steel structure mounted on 4 adjustable levelling feet. The machine main rotation beam on which the machine body is installed is mounted on two bearings fixed to each side of the support frame, allowing machine body rotation up to 180°.The fire-extinguisher cylinders are mounted on supports and fixed to said supports with special adaptors. These supports rotate around their axis to allow cylinder rotation. Cylinder rotation ensures homogeneous cylinder surface heating and, during the lining phase, allows even powder distribution inside the cylinders. Powder transfer is ensured via two powder containers which must be manually installed (with special quick releases) on the machine body on the opposite side to the cylinders before starting the cycle.

Pre-heating and powder melting are carried out by means of two burner systems installed on the rear part of the machine body.

Burner Systems: each burner system consists of one main side burner, one top burner and one bottom burner. The position of the burners can be changed according to the type of cylinder to coat, thus ensuring the best cylinder pre-heating conditions as it will be possible to adjust the heating capacity to the different types of cylinders.

Machine parameter (processing parameter) management is done by a PLC.

Control Panel: the following time and speed settings are available on the control panel:

  • Pre-heat Time;
  • Lining Time;
  • Cure Time;
  • Cooling Time;
  • Total Cycle Time;
  • Cylinder Rotation Speed;
  • Cylinder Tilting Speed.

Any other data (piece count, troubleshooting etc.) can be programmed in the PLC Software.

Burner Control Units are placed on the side of the machine.
